Islamabad, the modern capital of Pakistan is a thriving city with well planning and management. Banjosa Lake is an artificial lake and a tourist attraction 20 kilometers from the city of Rawalakot in District Poonch in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located at an altitude of 1,981 meters (6,499 ft). The lake is surrounded by densely pine forest and mountains, which make its very charming and romantic. The weather in this area remains cool and pleasant in summers, and cold and chilly in Winter. In December and January snowfall also occurs there. Sharda a breath-taking green spot at an altitude of 1981m. Shardi and Nardi are two mountain peaks overlooking the valley, reputedly named after legendary princess Sharda. It has a captivating landscape with numerous springs and hill-sides covered with trees. On the right bank, opposite Sharda, the Neelum is joined by the Surgan Nallah along which a track leads to Nurinar Pass and through it to the Kaghan Valley. Ruins of an old Buddhist University can also be found in Sharda.
Morning drive to Rawalakot via Sihala, Kahota and Azad Pattan. Arrival at Banjosa Lake, lunch at AJK tourist lodge and undertake some activities like boating and hiking. The Banjosa Lake is accessible by a metallic road from Rawalakot. Some rest houses and huts of AJK Tourism & Archaeology Department, Pakistan Public Works Department and Pearl Development Authority are located there for stay. Few hotels, guest houses and tuck shops are also exists there. Afternoon at leisure and evening BBQ dinner with bonfire and live music. Overnight stay at hotelt.
Drive to Muzaffarabad via Bagh, Sudan Gali and Zilzal Lake (approximate time 3 hours) Lunch at AJK Lodge Sudan Gali. Drive to Muzaffarabad with short stay at Zilzal lake Arrival at Muzaffarabad and transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight.
The bewitching beauty of Kutton permeated in the radius of 10 kilometers, makes Jagran Valley. The area is 16 kilometers from Kundal Shahi and is accessible by road. For the convenience of tourists, AJK tourism Department has constructed a rest house here. Whereas, accommodation is also available in adjacent residential complex managed by the Hydro Electric Board. From here 16 kilometers onward, Thunian, Ghansi and Jagran are located which are worth seeing spots for nature lovers and adventurists. Overnight at the rest house at Kutton.
Drive to Keran – where one can view the places (Indian held) across the river. Lunch in Keran Rest House. Continue drive to Sharda to view Buddhist remains. Athmuqam is situated at a height of 1371m, it is the sub-divisional headquarters of the area. It is an attractive place known for its variety of fruit. All necessary facilities via bazaars, post offices, banks, hospitals, and telephone exchanges are present. Neelum at a distance of about 9 km from Athmuqam, Neelum is situated on the right bank of the river Neelum at 1524m above sea level with fascinating scenery. The panoramic lush green valley is profound in fruit and wildlife. Overnight stay in a guest house at Keran.
Drive back to the capital of AJK and transfer to hotel for overnight stay. Visit Local bazaar. Red Fort.
